Your own domain
How to move the booking page or the admin to your own address, e.g. booking.yourbusiness.com, and which DNS record it needs.
Every business has two addresses straight away that always work:
- the booking page:
yourbusiness.ubooq.com; - the admin:
yourbusiness.admin.ubooq.com.
You can add your own domain next to them, e.g. booking.yourbusiness.com for booking or admin.yourbusiness.com for the admin. The owner manages domains, in Settings → Domains.
Adding a domain
- In Settings → Domains, click Add domain.
- Enter the domain and choose what it is for: Booking or Admin.
- Set up the DNS record as the instructions that appear say (see below).
- Click Check. Once the record is right, the domain is marked Connected.
We recommend a subdomain (booking.yourbusiness.com) rather than the main domain (yourbusiness.com). The main domain usually already leads to your website, and a subdomain is easier to set up.
The DNS record
You add the DNS record where you bought the domain or where its DNS is managed. The instructions in the admin give the exact values for your domain.
- A subdomain gets one CNAME record. If the interface adds the rest of the domain by itself, enter only the first part as the name, e.g.
booking. - A main domain can't have a CNAME, so it gets an A record (and an AAAA record, if the instructions list one). Remove its other A and AAAA records, e.g. from an old web host.
- If you use Cloudflare, turn off the proxy for this record (grey cloud, "DNS only").
A DNS change can take from a few minutes to a few hours. If Check reports a problem, the message says what is wrong: there is no record yet, it points somewhere else, or there is an old AAAA record.
HTTPS certificate
The HTTPS certificate is issued by itself, the first time the domain is opened. That can take up to a minute. There is nothing to buy or renew.
The primary domain
Once the domain works, open it (Open) and check it. Then click Make primary:
- Booking: links in emails and the embed code use your domain, and
yourbusiness.ubooq.comredirects to it. - Admin:
yourbusiness.admin.ubooq.comredirects to your domain. You need to sign in again at the new address.
You can also remove the mark (Remove primary). Everything then leads to the addresses on ubooq.com again.
If your booking page is already embedded on your website, copy the new embed code after making a domain primary.
Removing a domain
Remove deletes the domain and signs out everyone signed in at that address. You can't remove the domain you are signed in on right now: open the admin at another address.
If a later DNS check fails, the domain keeps working until you remove it.
